Questions plumbers ask

Straight answers to what plumbers ask before joining PlumbMatch. Price and contract terms are not on the site: we take you through them on a call, before you sign anything.

Licence-checked plumbers who do the kind of work a homeowner needs, and cover their area, can see the job. The first to take it gets the contact details, and plumbers pay PlumbMatch for jobs.

Questions people ask

How many plumbers see each job?

Every plumber who covers that area, does that kind of job and has passed our checks can see it, with the homeowner's first name and suburb. Only the first to take it gets the phone number, email and message. We never sell a homeowner's details.

What does it cost?

Plumbers pay for jobs, but there is no price on the site. We go through the price and how it's charged on a call, before anything is signed. More on the pricing page.

Is there a lock-in contract?

The contract length, any rollover and the notice to leave are part of that same call. You hear all of it before you are asked to sign.

Do your ads run under my business name?

No. Google Ads allows the business name to be "the domain, the recognized name of the advertiser, or the promoted downloadable app", and bans names like "Mountain View Plumber". PlumbMatch's ads run as PlumbMatch.

Will PlumbMatch compete with my Google Maps listing?

Google's Business Profile guidelines list "Lead generation agents or companies." as ineligible for a profile, so PlumbMatch has no map listing of its own.

Do I need my licence number in my own ads?

In NSW, "The licensee's name and licence number must appear in all advertising". In Queensland, the QBCC says a licensee's ads must give the licensed name and "your licensee number". In WA, regulation 25(1) puts the licence or permit number in any advertisement for the business. Check the rules in other states with the regulator.

Does paying for leads change my privacy duties?

Possibly. The Privacy Act says a business is not a small business operator if it "provides a benefit, service or advantage to collect personal information about another individual from anyone else" (section 6D(4)(d)). Whether that applies to you is one for your own adviser.

Do you check my licence again after I join?

Yes. We look it up every three months, and straight away if a complaint comes in. If it has lapsed or been suspended or cancelled, you stop getting jobs until it's current again. NSW licences can be checked through the state's Trades API; other states are looked up by hand.

Who deals with the homeowner once I have the job?

You do. The quote, the work, the invoice and any warranty are between you and the homeowner.
