Why the place changes the job
Plumbing licences are issued by each state and territory, not nationally. The regulator, the register you search, the certificate you're owed and the small jobs you may do yourself all change at the border.
The pipes change too. Where your responsibility for a sewer or water pipe ends depends on which water company serves your street, so each city page quotes that company's own wording.
Some rules belong to one state. Victoria's gas hot water rule starts on 1 March 2027, and the ACT has blocked new gas network connections since 8 December 2023.
