Loganholme at a glance
Kimberley Park water
Logan Water lists Loganholme as a main suburb of its Kimberley Park supply zone; part of the suburb is in the Springwood Low zone.
The hardness readings
Kimberley Park's 48 tests in 2024/25 ran from 107.7 to 191.1 mg/L total hardness, averaging 138.61 mg/L. The Logan-wide average was 94.03 mg/L and the guideline is 200 mg/L.
A Logan River suburb
Council's history of Loganholme records the January 1887 flood leaving up to two metres of sand along the riverbanks, and floods in 1947 and 1974 washing out bridge approaches.
Houses and mortgages
At the 2021 Census, 92.7% of the suburb's occupied homes were separate houses; 47.6% had a mortgage and 29.3% were rented.
Hot water and scale
Logan Water says hard water can cause scaling inside hot water systems and kettles, although it rates its supply as good quality overall. With readings like Kimberley Park's, it's worth asking about scale whenever your system is serviced.
When it's replaced, Queensland requires a temperature control device on every new and replacement system, and stored water must be heated to at least 60°C to stop Legionella growing. Solar and heat pump systems have to be installed by someone holding the QBCC's solar and heat pump endorsement. Our Brisbane hot water page and tempering valves guide cover the detail.
Floods, rain and the gully
The Logan Flood Portal shows estimated flood extents for 1974, 2017 and 2022 and gives a flood report for an address. Check it before choosing where a new hot water system or pump sits.
In heavy rain, Logan Water says stormwater gets into the sewer through illegal roof connections, damaged property drains and unsealed access-hole lids, and the network can overflow. Keep downpipes and tank overflows well away from your overflow relief gully.
Your pipes and Council's
For a blocked sewer, Logan Water's part runs up to and including the first inspection opening on your connection. For water, its part ends at the meter, and a hidden leak in the underground pipe after it is yours, though it may qualify for a remission on the bill. Our Logan page has the rules.
What we would do
If your hot water system is due for a service, ask the plumber to look for scale and to check the tempering valve while they're there. Download the Flood Portal report before you decide where a replacement goes. And if a drain backs up whenever it rains, start at the gully: nothing from your downpipes or tank should end up in it.
