Jimboomba facts for a plumbing job
Houses, mostly mortgaged
96.7% of the suburb's occupied homes were separate houses at the 2021 Census. 61.7% were owned with a mortgage and 13.5% rented.
Round Mountain water
Logan Water lists Jimboomba as a main suburb of its Round Mountain supply zone, with parts in the Travis Road and Woodhill zones.
Lowest hardness in Logan's report
Those three zones make up Logan South, which averaged 50.53 mg/L total hardness in 2024/25 (range 32.7 to 130), the lowest of Logan's reported zones.
City of Logan
Jimboomba is in Logan City Council's area. Logan Water, not Urban Utilities, owns the mains.
If your block has a treatment plant
An on-site system has to sit inside your boundary, within its approved land application area, and Council makes owners and tenants responsible for maintaining it. Queensland law requires an aerobic wastewater treatment plant to be serviced every 3 months, and an aerobic sand filter every year, by a licensed service agent.
Not sure what you've got? Since October 2020, Council officers have been putting an identification sticker in the electricity meter box of each Logan property with an on-site system. Scanning it shows the system's service history. Our septic systems page covers what a plumber checks.
Tanks with a trickle feed
Where Logan's network can't meet every user's demand, some homes have trickle feed or mixed demand systems. Town water trickles into the rainwater tank through a restricted valve, at about 2 litres per minute.
Because roof water mixes in, Logan Water says tank water may not meet the drinking water guidelines' health limits. For drinking and food preparation it recommends a filter that removes bacteria, or boiling, and keeping the tank clean is the owner's job. See rainwater tanks and tank pumps.
Homes on the sewer
On a sewered block, Logan Water's part ends at the first inspection opening on your property connection, and the drain upstream is yours. Mention you're in Logan when you book, because the plumber has to alert Logan Water early if a blockage looks like Council's. Our Logan page explains how reimbursement works.
What we would do
Before booking, work out three things: sewer or on-site system, town water or tank, and whether there's a sticker in the meter box. A plumber who services treatment plants is a different specialist from a drainer, and a tank pump fault is different again. Getting the match right first time saves a second call-out.
