What the numbers say about Pimpama
Young and growing
Between the 2016 and 2021 Censuses the count rose from 9,396 people to 24,601. The median age in 2021 was 29.
Big houses, full houses
80.8% of occupied homes were separate houses and 65.3% had four or more bedrooms. Households averaged 3 people, against 2.5 across Queensland.
Mostly renters
56.9% of homes were rented, well above Queensland's 33.1%. Only 9.8% were owned outright.
A bigger sewage plant
The City is upgrading the Pimpama Sewage Treatment Plant on Kerkin Road North. By 2028 it should have double the existing capacity, sized for the area's expected growth.
Renting in Pimpama
With more than half of homes rented, many jobs go through a property manager. Put the fault in writing with photos, and say when it started.
For a burst pipe, turn the water off at the meter first, then tell the agent. The meter usually sits towards the front of the block, near the left or right boundary. If sewage is coming up, stop using water in the house and call the agent straight away.
Hot water for a full house
Three or more people can empty a storage tank fast. When a water heater is put in or replaced in Queensland, a temperature control device has to be fitted with it. Solar and heat pump systems must be installed by a hot water installer holding the QBCC's solar and heat pump endorsement.
Replacing a water heater is notifiable work. The licensee registers it with the QBCC within 10 business days of invoicing, and you should receive a copy. Compare options on our Gold Coast hot water page.
Sewer demand is climbing
The City's infrastructure plan put demand in the Pimpama sewerage catchment at 61,183 equivalent persons in 2021 and expects 94,418 by 2031. On your block, the City's pipe stops at the property connection fitting, and a blockage upstream of it is the owner's to clear. A plumber who finds the fault in the City's main should report it that day and claim from the City.
What we would do
If the shower runs lukewarm in a busy Pimpama house, read the label on the hot water system first: brand, size and the date it was made. Renters can send that to the property manager with a photo; owners can give it to a hot water specialist so they arrive with the right parts in mind. If you're replacing the unit, ask the plumber to confirm the temperature control device and the QBCC registration in their quote.
