Thermann hot water systems Sold through Reece.

Thermann is a hot water brand founded in 2012 and sold through Reece Plumbing, so your plumber is usually the one who gets it for you. It covers continuous flow, gas and electric storage, electric-boosted solar and heat pumps. Ask a plumber who specialises in hot water which one suits your house. PlumbMatch is not affiliated with Thermann.

What Thermann makes

  • Continuous flow: the R-Series and G-Series.
  • Gas storage.
  • Electric storage: small, large and smart models.
  • Electric-boosted solar.
  • Heat pumps: an integrated model and a split model. Thermann says its split models "allow for flexible installation options".

Who's behind it, and where parts come from

Thermann calls itself "a 100% Australian owned brand". It points buyers to "Reece Plumbing locations around Australia", and says Reece provides its aftersales service.

Parts come through the same network. Thermann's FAQ says selected continuous flow parts can be ordered through Reece branches, and solar parts from your local Reece outlet.

Looking after a Thermann

You can

  • Read the owner's guide for your model. Thermann says some checks and service tasks can be done by the homeowner.
  • If the relief valve drips, Thermann's FAQ suggests gently raising its easing lever for a few seconds, then lowering it gently.

Leave to a licensed plumber

  • A relief valve that keeps leaking: Thermann suggests a licensed plumber test the system.
  • Anode inspection and tank flushing, which Thermann says help a system last longer.
  • Heat pump servicing, which Thermann says heat pumps need from time to time.

Warranty

We couldn't find a page setting out warranty conditions on Thermann's website. Its heat pump page shows warranty figures marked with an asterisk and no footnote, and its FAQ tells you to check your warranty.

So before the job starts, ask for the warranty card or owner's guide for your exact model, and read what it says about installation and servicing.

Questions for your plumber

  • Which Thermann model is this, and why that one for my house?
  • Can I see this model's warranty card before you order it?
  • If a part fails in a few years, how quickly can you get it from Reece?
  • For a heat pump: integrated or split, and where would each part sit?

Our take

Because Thermann comes through Reece, your plumber is your link to parts and aftersales help. Choose a plumber who installs the brand often and will still answer the phone when a part is needed. Get the warranty card at handover, not later. A plumber who specialises in hot water will expect you to ask.
