Munno Para facts
Ward 2, City of Playford
Munno Para shares the City of Playford's Ward 2 with Smithfield, Smithfield Plains and the part of Munno Para Downs east of Stebonheath Road.
Houses, and many tenants
At the 2021 Census, 85.1% of the suburb's occupied homes were separate houses. 46.2% were rented, against 27.6% statewide, and just 10.2% were owned outright.
A young suburb
The median age in Munno Para was 31 at the 2021 Census.
Network growth next door
SA Water calls its housing growth works the biggest expansion of its metropolitan network in decades. Listed projects include Blakeview to Munno Para West, along Craigmore Road and Curtis Road.
Cold snaps up north
The Bureau's Edinburgh RAAF station averages 8.7 days a year at 2°C or colder and about one day at or below 0°C, from 54 years of records. In the city, West Terrace averages 0.3 days at 2°C or colder.
Lag exposed pipes and outdoor taps before winter, and protect the pipework on outdoor hot water units. If a pipe splits, turn off the water at the meter and see burst pipes in Adelaide.
If you rent
Report a leak, blockage or hot water failure to your landlord or agent as soon as you notice it, in writing if you can. If you own a rental here, a quick response stops a small leak becoming a bigger repair.
Sewer, stormwater and roadworks
SA Water runs the sewer and water mains. We couldn't confirm where its pipes end on your block, so ask SA Water before paying for work near the boundary. Downpipes and yard pits drain to stormwater, which is separate from the sewer. For a council pit or drain, contact the City of Playford.
SA Water also lists growth projects on roads nearby, part of its push to add water and wastewater capacity for new housing in the northern suburbs.
What we would do
Lag the exposed pipes before July, and know where your water meter is so you can shut it off in seconds. Tenants: tell the landlord or agent first and keep a record. Owners: when you book a plumber, ask for the licence number and keep the compliance certificate they give you.
