What iStore sells
iStore describes itself as an "Australian-owned, family-run company" whose "journey started with a single product: our heat pump." Its home page lists two of them, the iStore 180L and the iStore 270L, and mentions an established Australian distribution network.
It also sells solar inverters, home batteries, an EV charger and pool heaters. The pool heaters are for pools, not your household hot water.
Picking between the two sizes
Size is the main choice. Tell the plumber how many people live with you, when everyone showers, and whether that's likely to change. Our size checklist helps you get your answers ready.
Queensland has its own installer rule: heat pumps there must be fitted by a hot water installer holding a QBCC solar and heat pump endorsement.
Getting the warranty registered
Note how you bought it
iStore's warranty page says that if you bought directly from iStore, your warranty was registered automatically.
Bought through a reseller?
Then iStore asks you to fill in its registration form yourself.
Collect the serial numbers
iStore asks you to get them from your installer. Ask at handover, before the plumber leaves.
Keep the paperwork together
Store the invoice, the serial numbers and the compliance certificate in one place.
Before you book the install
- Is the 180L or the 270L right for us, and why?
- In Queensland: do you hold the QBCC solar and heat pump endorsement?
- Are you buying it from iStore or a reseller, and who registers the warranty?
- Where will the unit go, and how far is it from the bedrooms?
If it were our house
Ask the plumber to read out the serial numbers while you fill in the registration form, before they pack up. It takes a few minutes on the day and much longer if you have to chase them later. Choose a plumber who specialises in hot water and has fitted heat pumps before.
