The two Haier layouts
Haier lists the Monoblock, a single system heat pump water heater, and a split system heat pump water heater. The Monoblock uses R290 refrigerant and lists a magnesium anode.
Haier's Australian home appliance site is published by Fisher & Paykel Australia Pty Limited.
A monoblock needs one spot for the whole unit. A split puts the heat pump and the tank in different places, joined by pipework.
Size it right
Haier's warranty doesn't cover a product that is "undersized for the hot water requirements, considering the size of the home or climate of the install region". Ask the plumber how they sized it for your household and your climate. Our guide to hot water sizes explains what goes into that.
What else the warranty excludes
- Service calls to correct the installation.
- Damage from a water supply outside the levels in the operation and installation manual.
- Normal maintenance set out in that manual.
- Faults from repair or service by anyone other than a Haier authorised service technician or the selling dealer.
At handover, record these
Keep proof of purchase
Haier asks you to keep your invoice or home builder documents, because a warranty repair needs them.
Write down the numbers
Record the model and serial numbers of the unit.
Note the installer's licence details
Haier's warranty form asks for details of your installer's licensing.
Register it
Haier recommends registering the product online.
What to ask
- Monoblock or split: which fits our space better?
- How did you size it for our household and climate?
- Does my water supply sit within the levels in Haier's manual?
- Can you write your licence details on the warranty form before you go?
What we would do
Get the size conversation on paper. Haier won't cover a system that's too small for the house or the climate, so ask the plumber to note on the quote how many people it's sized for. Then fill in the warranty form together at handover. A plumber who specialises in hot water will have no trouble with either.
