The plumbers we match you with Independent. Licence checked.

Every plumber who sees jobs from us runs their own business. Three things decide which plumbers see your job: the work they specialise in, the area they cover and the licence they hold for that work. The one who takes it quotes, does the job and answers for it.

Which plumbers see your job, and who takes it

  1. The kind of job

When plumbers join, they tell us which jobs they want and which they would rather not do. A burst pipe is shown to plumbers who chase leaks; a new gas cooktop to gas fitters.

  2. Your area

Plumbers who take jobs in your suburb or postcode see it first. If none of them takes it within 48 hours, plumbers elsewhere in your state may see it.

  3. The licence for that work

The licence class on the state register has to cover the job. Holding a plumbing licence is not enough if the job is gas or drainage and the licence does not include it.

  4. When more than one fits

Every plumber who fits sees the job, your first name and your suburb, but never your phone number or email. The first one to take the job gets those details and calls you.

Why the licence class matters

Licences are split by the kind of work, and the split differs by state.

In Victoria, plumbers are "registered" or "licensed" for each class of plumbing work. Licensed plumbers can also design, supervise others and issue compliance certificates.

In NSW, a contractor licence is needed for "all specialist work regardless of its cost", and specialist work includes plumbing, drainage and gasfitting.

The ACT lists separate classes for plumbers, drainers and gasfitters, such as "Sanitary plumber", "Advanced sanitary drainer" and "General gasfitter".

Before any plumber sees a job from us

  • Their licence has been looked up on the register for their state.
  • We have a record of the jobs they do and the areas they cover.
  • Public liability insurance is on file, and their ABN is active.
  • A person on our team has read their Google reviews.

Who they are

Each one is a plumbing business that applied to join, passed our checks and chose the kinds of job it takes. Those might be hot water, blocked drains, leaks, gas, or taps, toilets and bathrooms. A plumber only sees jobs of those kinds, and only where their licence covers the work.

The plumber who takes your job tells you their business name when they get in touch. That lets you look up their licence and reviews yourself. The full list of checks explains each step we take first.

Plumbing businesses anywhere in Australia can apply through for plumbers.

Your details and the price

The plumber sets their own price for your job. Your contact details reach only the plumber who takes it, and we never sell them.

Questions people ask

Do these plumbers work for PlumbMatch?

No. Each one is an independent business with its own licence, insurance and customers. We pass jobs to them; we do not employ them.

Is the plumber local to my suburb?

At first, only plumbers who have told us they take jobs in your suburb or postcode see your job. After 48 hours with no taker, plumbers elsewhere in your state may see it too. Covering your area does not mean their yard is in your street.

Tell us the problem. We'll find the specialist.

We match your job with a local plumber who does this kind of job, licence checked.
