About Reclaim
Reclaim describes itself as "an Australian-owned engineering company" with "over 20 years of experience". Its hot water products are the R290 Heat Pump, the CO₂ Heat Pump and the CO₂ Wi-Fi Heat Pump. It sells air conditioning too.
The CO₂ system and its tanks
Reclaim's CO₂ heat pump has a "split-system design with separate heat pump and storage tank". The two parts don't have to sit side by side, so ask your plumber whether that makes your spot easier.
You choose the tank: stainless steel or glass-lined enamel. Ask the plumber what each means for your water supply and for anode checks.
The R290 Heat Pump is the other option. Ask how its layout differs before you plan the space.
Choosing for your house
Measure the space
Note where the old system sits and what's around it: fences, windows, the side gate.
Check the rental rule if it applies
Own a rental in Victoria? From 1 March 2027, when its system permanently fails and can't be repaired, the replacement must be an efficient heat pump or an electric-boosted solar water heater.
Ask about discounts
STCs and some state schemes can reduce the price of a heat pump. They're discounts, and the model has to be eligible. See rebates and discounts by state.
What to ask the installer
- CO₂ or R290: which Reclaim model fits my space?
- Stainless steel or glass-lined enamel tank, and why?
- Are you a Reclaim dealer, or will you buy through one?
- Who do I call for warranty service, and is there a travel charge where I live?
Warranty and service
Reclaim's warranties page links separate terms documents for its CO₂ and ECO R290 heat pumps. Ask for the one that matches your model.
The page says service costs are capped by a schedule of rates, and travel beyond a set range is paid by the customer. If you live out of town, ask about that before you buy.
Reclaim points to a network of dealers and installers, with a Find a Dealer tool on its site.
Our honest view
Settle the layout before the fine print. If the space beside your house is tight, a split system may be easier to fit, but ask the plumber to look at both models. Then get the warranty terms for the exact model and read the travel clause, especially outside a big city. A plumber who specialises in hot water can price the two Reclaim options side by side.
