The Bosch range
Bosch's gas hot water page says "Using continuous flow technology" and lists three lines: the HydroPower Series, the Pilot Ignition Gas Hot Water System and the Internal Compact Hot Water System. The Pilot Ignition models are external, and Bosch says the Internal Compact's wall-mounted design saves space.
On the electric side, Bosch lists a three phase electric instantaneous water heater, plus the Tronic 7000 and Tronic 4000. The Australian site is run by Robert Bosch (Australia) Pty Ltd, which also sells hydronic heating.
Gas or electric, inside or out
Start with your energy supply. A gas unit needs gas at the property. An electric instantaneous heater needs the right electrical supply, and a three phase model needs three phase power.
Then think ahead. Victoria's rule from 1 March 2027 means a worn-out gas water heater in an existing home gets replaced with an efficient electric option, not more gas. If you're there, ask whether a new gas unit now still suits your plans, and check the latest rules.
Inside or outside depends on where the old unit was, where a flue could run, and whether a service person can reach it later.
Ask before you choose Bosch
- Gas or electric: what supply does my house have, and is it enough?
- Internal or external model, and where exactly would it mount?
- Will my water pressure and the number of taps running at once suit a tankless unit?
- Which Bosch warranty document covers this model?
- Who services Bosch hot water in my area?
Warranty terms
Bosch's warranty and servicing page doesn't list the conditions on the page itself. It says the full conditions can be downloaded there, and that they're in the customer manual supplied with the appliance.
The three phase electric instantaneous heater has its own warranty document. Ask the plumber to leave the manual behind, and keep it with your invoice.
What we would do
Bosch is a tankless choice, so check your supply and how much hot water you use at once before anything else. If you're in Victoria and replacing gas, get an electric option priced too. Keep the customer manual, because that's where Bosch puts the warranty conditions. A plumber who specialises in hot water can confirm your gas or power supply first.
